In theory the 260z was an improved version of the 240z but it lost some of its sporty nature and perfect balance.

When it was introduced in 1969 the intent was to compete with European sports carsand initial pricing was comparable to the MGB-GT and well under the price of a Jaguar Porsche Triumph or Alfa Romeo. Bagged the S30 the first series was produced between 1969 - 1978 and also included 260Z and 280Z.
